One requirement for successful completion of the Alabama Principal Leadership Development System (APLDS) Program each year is that principals and assistant principals must complete

Title:

APLDS - AMSTI: 2025-26 Alabama Course of Study (2023): Science - Overview

During this 1-day session, participants will explore the structure of the 2023 Alabama Course of Study: Science, including the conceptual framework, position statements, and how to interpret the content standards. This professional learning opportunity will also allow participants to develop a deeper understanding of the three dimensions associated with each content standard: disciplinary core ideas, scientific and engineering practices, and crosscutting concepts. Participants will also learn how to access and navigate resources provided by the Alabama Learning Exchange, AMSTI, and ASIM.

Title:

APLDS - AMSTI: 2025-26 Math ACAP Aligned Daily Instruction (Grades 2-8)

This three-hour professional learning session is designed to help teachers and school administrators use the ACAP resources for math to assist in math pacing and plan out their lessons so that they understand the expectation of learning for students (evidence statements) and know how standards will be assessed (sample stems) so that their daily instruction will be aligned with statewide assessment. Participants need to bring their teacher textbook guide or student textbook. It might also be helpful if a participant brings district/school pacing guides.

APLDS - MTSS: 2025-26 Maxwell Leadership Foundation: Leadership Series

This online leadership series provides a virtual opportunity to enhance your leadership skills. Led through discussion groups, Maxwell Leadership Foundation’s Leadership Development Series is based on lessons in leadership values. Participants will learn about how transformational leaders live these values in their personal and professional lives. These lessons include a variety of topics designed to add to any leadership toolbox. The beginning of each session will briefly feature a special guest speaker. Then, participants will enter break-out sessions with fellow-educators from across Alabama to read the lesson together, discuss leadership values, self-evaluate, and goal-set.

APLDS - MTSS: 2025-26 PST Training: Laying the Foundation For Instructional Leaders

Crank up the bulldozers and backhoes! It’s time to dig the footers and lay the foundation for constructing dynamic problem-solving teams (PST) incorporating strong Tier I instruction, application of RTI and PBS models, and focused communication during PLC and PST meetings. Allow the guiding questions to help you consider the effectiveness of your existing PST process and generate ideas for improving problem-solving for all students. The target audience for this session is district- and school-level administrators, PST/RTI/PBS coordinators, and school counselors. Potential Audience may include instructional specialists, teacher leaders, or anyone directly involved in the leadership/coordination of PST.
