One requirement for successful completion of the Alabama Principal Leadership Development System (APLDS) Program each year is that principals and assistant principals must complete

If you aspire to be an Association leader or a leader in your school and school system, then the AEA Minority Leadership Training (MLT) Conference is for you! It will be held on October 31-November 2, 2025, at the Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach, Alabama. The MLT Conference is open to ALL AEA members. APLDS - AEA: 2025-26 Professional Rights & Responsibilities (PR&R) Conference 2026

Join us for an engaging conference beginning Friday at 6:00 p.m. with a plated dinner, social event, and legislative update, followed by a full day of workshops on Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. and concluding with a luncheon. This one-day session focuses on mathematical routines and is intended to motivate teachers to use routines to promote sense-making. Consistent use of routines connects to Student Mathematical Practice and ALCOS standards, provides formative assessment, and supports the development of conceptual understanding through student sense-making, reasoning, and discourse. Participants will explore the importance of sense-making through various routines and engage in discussions about adapting and implementing these routines in their own practice.

The K-5 2019 Alabama Course of Study: Mathematics Overview is professional learning for elementary teachers, special education teachers, paraprofessionals, and elementary math coaches. The 3-hour session focuses on understanding the new 2019 Alabama Course of Study: Mathematics and its conceptual framework: Position Statements, Mathematical Teaching Practices, Student Mathematical Practices and the K-5 Content Areas. This session provides opportunities for participants to apply their learning from the Math Foundational Training and take their learning deeper as they analyze learning progressions and determine how to incorporate the mathematical practices throughout math instruction.
